The Human Project: Mugs for Education

What do you do when you see a little girl in tattered clothes scouring through garbage, crying because she can’t find food?

What do you do when you see a girl scooping muddy water out of a ditch and pouring it into an oil can?

Our friends, Edwin and Barb, run an orphanage in Uganda called Jaaja Barb's Home of Angels. When they saw these girls, they started asking questions. The answers were devastating. They discovered that these two little girls lived at an orphanage in their community, but that they, along with 18 other children, had been abandoned two months earlier. The water and electricity had been shut off because no one was paying the bills. The children were starving because no one was bringing them food. Only one ‘Aunty’ had stayed to take care of them; but without money for food, water, and electricity, there wasn’t much she could do.

What do you do when you find 20 children between the ages of 3-6 who have no family to speak of and have now been abandoned by their caretakers?

Edwin and Barb have 25 children whom they love and care for in their orphanage; but their hearts were stirred for these other abandoned children-- so they called a house meeting. At that meeting it was unanimously decided they would take the kids in. They would share their beds, their clothes, their food, whatever it took-- because, as one of the girls succinctly put it, “If we don’t take care of them, they are going to die.”

So what do we do when we hear about 25 orphans who are willing to give sacrificially to care for others?

This is The Human Project. It’s about helping restore humanity where it is lost.

Apologetics Canada will be filming a session of The Human Project in Uganda at Jaaja Barb's Home of Angels. When we heard of this need we felt compelled to help. By purchasing a Human Project Mug for $20 you can help provide education for these 20 children. All proceeds from the sale of each mug will go to Jaaja Barb’s Home of Angels.

  1. This account made me cry. Blessings on you, as you respond to the Lord’s leading in helping the orphans of Uganda.
